Avoid Burnout: You & Your Team G'day Reader Not only are we experiencing record levels of business failures, but... we're also facing record levels of leadership burnout. We tend to think we're invincible until we're not. It feels like we're going swimming... with a lead weight. Then, the next thing happens, and we get an extra lead weight. We're pushing ourselves harder just to stay afloat. There comes a point when we just can't take any more weight. Burnout has been building for a while, probably quite a while. But it's when we sink, that we realise we've reached our tolerance level. It's when we sink, that we realise we're not invincible. Not any more. How are you going Reader? How are members of your team going? I encourage you to take a moment and:
Business Evolution FrameworkI developed this framework between 2016-2018. I use it with all my mentoring clients. It's a powerful framework. It acts as an assessment of the current situation and then a tool to set goals. Well-being is at the centre of all the business & career growth work I do. I encourage you to put your well-being at the centre of everything you do. It's like you put your oxygen mask on before helping others. If you work on your well-being as well as your results, you'll strive to thrive. Not be stuck and struggle. When we feel good, it's easier to deal with tough times, and to be resilient. If you'd like to get an overview of the actions you can take for yourself and/or your team, reply to this email with "WELLBEING" and I'll flick you a free video We know we are experiencing record levels of burnout in our industry. It makes sense to get a better understanding of how to improve well-being for ourselves and those around us. Feel free to reply and share your thoughts and insights with me. Remember, we're stronger together. David David Carruthers |

G'day Reader Why did you come into hospitality? How did you 'join' this club? For some, it's an accident. For others, it's a short-term thing that lasts a little longer! For a few, it's a planned career from the start. For me, I did the owner of a local pub a favour and covered a shift. That shift turned into 2-3 shifts a week. Then their marriage hit a difficult moment. They asked me to manage the pub while they went away for a week. I was 17. That was 43 years ago. In 1987 I was lucky to...
