What does YOUR Future of Hospitality look like?

G'day Reader

Setting a vision for what you want your future to look like gives:

  • you something to aim and strive for
  • you the ability to build a strategy to achieve your vision
  • your staff and customers a clear picture of what you stand for

This applies whether you're an employed leader or business owner

Asking yourself some questions can help you get clarity.

For business owners, you might ask yourself, "Do I want to...":

  • stay in my business forever?
  • build, sell and retire or get out?
  • build, sell, take a break, buy another (& repeat)?
  • go from one venue to more venues - build a group
  • take my existing multi-venue group to the next level

For employed leaders & career professionals, ask "Do I want to..."

  • stay where I am, doing what I'm doing, more of the same?
  • move into another job with my current employer?
  • move into another company in the same or higher level role?
  • move out of the hospitality industry and do something different?
  • leave my job / company / industry to start my own business?

These questions are best discussed with your partner or a good friend.

You might find that you can't get it down to a single choice and you have two.

That's ok. You're narrowing it down and you'll get clearer later in the process.

If you're telling yourself you can't do what you want because:

  • you're not good enough
  • you're waiting for your boss to say it's ok
  • you'll work it out later, you've got urgent work to do now

then you might be self-sabotaging your dreams.

I reckon you're:

  • capable of far more than you think you can do
  • have dreams and aspirations that you forgot or you hide
  • a little bit scared of what might happen if your dreams come true

Your future of hospitality is your choice

Don't let somebody else try to give you theirs

G'day Reader How are you feeling as we step into quarter 4 of 2024? If somebody had said to you in the middle of 2019 that: the entire world will lockdown next year after that, there'll be an economic meltdown then the world be on the edge of World War III you'd have called them crazy, right? Back in 2022 when I launched Future of Hospitality,I warned of the tsunami we were walking into (blindfolded) And, it's not going away (just in case you weren't sure) Regularly ask yourself (and your...

A newly appointed and highly capable CEO running a $22m group. We identified $400k of improvement in our first session. $400k that can be dropped to bottom live without an extra revenue dollar We'll work together for 3 months to: transform results faster supporting a strategy development process have somebody who's walked in their shoes in their corner...

G'day Reader Why did you come into hospitality? How did you 'join' this club? For some, it's an accident. For others, it's a short-term thing that lasts a little longer! For a few, it's a planned career from the start. For me, I did the owner of a local pub a favour and covered a shift. That shift turned into 2-3 shifts a week. Then their marriage hit a difficult moment. They asked me to manage the pub while they went away for a week. I was 17. That was 43 years ago. In 1987 I was lucky to...
